The crash occurred around 11:18 p.m. Thursday on Town Hill Avenue near Clark Street after the driver lost control and hit the pole, said James Gagliardo, of the Danbury Fire Department.
Danbury fire was already working another crash on I-84 when the call came in, so the Bethel Fire Department was called in to help with their rescue truck, Gagliardo said.
Upon arrival on scene, first responders found that the car had struck a telephone pole and then rolled over onto its side, he said.
The pole was broken into three pieces and contained a transformer, a street light, and multiple power and telecommunication lines.
The car was in very close proximity to the wires and pole, and Eversource was requested on a Priority One response.
Engine's 23, 24 and Truck 2 arrived on scene and worked along with Bethel firefighters to stabilize the car and keep bystanders away from the various downed wires, Gagliardo said.
The driver was removed and cared for by Danbury EMS and transported to the hospital.
Town Hill Avenue was closed for more than 8 hours while Eversource restored service to the area.
